Campaign Announcement

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

For the past 21 years, Whatcom County has been my cherished home. It's where my family has grown, where my children have thrived in our local schools, and where I've built a life deeply rooted in our community. Today, I'm excited to announce my candidacy for Whatcom County Council, Position #2.

As a graduate of Western Washington University and a dedicated educator and community leader, I've spent my career committed to serving others. Whether it's supporting students and families in our schools, serving on school bond and levy committees, or currently serving as a Commissioner on the Whatcom County Civil Service Commission, my focus has always been on making a positive impact.

I believe public service is about giving people a voice, creating opportunities, and ensuring everyone feels valued. Just like in education, it's about fostering hope, fairness, and community.

My Priorities for Whatcom County:

  • Strengthening Public Safety and Resources: Ensuring our EMS and law enforcement agencies have the resources they need to keep our neighborhoods safe and welcoming for all.

  • Supporting Behavioral Health Services: Expanding access to mental health services and strengthening early intervention and prevention efforts.

  • Championing Affordable Housing: Promoting balanced policies that ensure everyone has a stable place to live.

  • Balanced and Responsible Budget: Prioritizing a transparent and sustainable budget that reflects essential services and invests in our future.

These priorities are not just talking points; they are the foundation of a thriving community. I've seen firsthand the impact of these issues on our families and neighbors, and I'm committed to working tirelessly to address them.

I'm running for County Council because I want to ensure that Whatcom County remains a place where everyone matters and where hope is always within reach. I want to build on our community's strengths and address the challenges we face together.

I would be honored to receive your support and your vote. I invite you to join me on this journey.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to connecting with you in the coming months.

Sincerely,

Mike Cullum
